AIDA level – 2

Level 2 freediving course is aiming to freedivers that already possess Level 1 certification, or a certification of another organization of similar stature, or self-taught freedivers and spear fishers who posses the skills and qualifications of the 1st level course.

It is a course designed to offer specialized know how, both theoretical as well as practical, in order to assist the freediver to primarily improved on his/her technique and safety.

The significant improvement on the freediver performance (in breath hold, depth attained, etc.) comes as a natural result of applying the aforementioned techniques.

Skills Certification

The static and dynamic sessions in confined water are used to teach relaxation, breathing, finning and safety techniques. In the open water sessions students will apply the skills they have learned in the pool / confined water sessions and combine them with the basic skills of open water freediving such as equalizing, duck diving, vertical swimming, body positioning, turns and use of buoyancy.

The freediving theory will include: Introduction to Freediving, Freediving Breathing Cycle, Basic Physiology of Freediving, Equalization, Freediving Techniques, Safety in Freediving, Equipment in Freediving, Freediving Disciplines.

Requirements

  • 2 min static apnea,
  • 40m dynamic apnea,
  • 12-20m diving with constant weights,
  • theoretical exam.

Participation Qualifications

  • Good health certificate,
  • Be 18 years of age or older (16 or 17 years old with parent or guardian consent),
  • Swimming skills, be able to swim at least 200m non-stop without fins and snorkel or at least 300m non-stop with mask, fins and snorkel.

Duration

The minimum course duration is 3 days.

The minimum water sessions in the sea are 5.
